[Beats] Rap Music Moguls Surrender to the FBI

Amid assertions of money laundering and an intricate interstate drug dealing/distribution ring, rap music label heads Irv “Gotti” Lorenzo and his brother Christopher surrendered to the FBI this morning.

Their Murder Inc. label, which features Ja Rule and Ashanti as its most prominent acts, has been under investigation for years, as the FBI finally unsealed an indictment calling for the confiscation of Gotti’s real estate and business holdings.

Irv Gotti’s longtime friend and business associate, Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, is allegedly one of New York’s most notorious drug kingpins and was charged with murder of potential government witnesses, racketeering and other crimes that prosecutors said were intended to eliminate and intimidate potential witnesses.

Prosecutors said McGriff and the Gottis funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars in McGriff’s drug profits through the music label, a which is partially owned by Def Jam, a subsidiary of Universal Music.
