[WWE] Smackdown To Add To Cruiserweight Division?

Archive

Joey Styles at 1wrestling.com is reporting that Psicosis will be getting a dark match tryout with WWE this Sunday before the Royal Rumble. His friend, Rey Mysterio, likely had influence over this decision.

With rumors (that seem to have died down) that Ultimo Dragon was returning to WWE un-masked and using his real name Asai, as well as the increased WWE/RoH participation, and the higher quality level of cruiserweight matches, particularly on Velocity, it should be interesting to see what WWE Creative does with this often under-utilized division.

Currently the Cruiserweight Division on SD includes:

Funaki (Champion)
Spike Dudley
Rey Mysterio, Jr.
Paul London
Billy Kidman
Chavo Guerrero, Jr.
Scotty 2 Hotty
Jimmy “Akio” Yang
Shannon Moore
Nunzio

“Technically” WWE has used a 220 weight limit on cruiserweights, so the company could always use a trimmed down RVD, Eddie or Charlie Haas in the division if need be, as they did with Matt Hardy before his jump to RAW. Additionally, if WWE holds another post-Wrestlemania 21 “draft lottery,” Tajiri, Hurricane, Simon Dean, and Stevie Richards would likely qualify for the cruiserweight division should they jump to SD.
