[WWE] Brock Lesnar Update: NFL Europe, WWE Status, More

Archive

Brock Lesnar has been gone from WWE since Wrestlemania XX, and almost since then has been a countdown to his WWE return.

He was dealt another blow to his NFL dream this week when it was revealed he was not on the short list of players being sent by the Vikings to be a part of NFL Europe. According to a Yahoo Sports story

Says the story:

“One name missing from that list was wrestler Brock Lesnar . When the Vikings released Lesnar last summer, the plan was to re-sign him and send him to NFL Europe. There has been no contact between the Vikings and Lesnar since the season ended.”

Lesnar has been calling Vince McMahon’s office directly, but was only getting to Vince’s assistant, Beth, at first. Apparently things have progressed to where he is now talking about a return with WWE officials, but still has “ridiculous” demands on contract terms.

He has reportedly given up on getting to play with the NFL, and is looking for new options. When Lesnar got his WWE release, Lesnar agreed to a no-compete clause regarding worldwide wrestling matches or mixed martial arts matches. This lasts at least through the end of 2005, and likely for the duration of Lesnar’s long term WWE contract (that he got out of last year).

Many expect that Brock will be back with WWE sometime in 2005, and he was even rumored to be the 30th man in the Royal Rumble. Some speculate that those rumors were used by WWE to try to soften Lesnar’s contract demands by getting him excited about the circumstances of his return.
