Sony/Columbia Pictures has purchased the rights to 102 Minutes, a book to be published by New York Times writers Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn, according to Variety.

The book tells stories of heroism as well as incompetence during the September 11th tragedy, starting at 8:46 A.M., when the first plane hit the World Trade Center tower, til 10:28 A.M. when the first tower collapsed.

The movie will have a ticking clock chronicling the events in real-time; much like the television show 24.
