Casting Notes on Superman, Failure to Launch, and Ice Age 2

Eve Marie Saint has been cast as Martha Kent in Bryan Singer’s Superman for Warner Bros. Pictures., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

She joins Brandon Routh, who will be playing Clark Kent/Superman, as well as Kate Bosworth (Lois Lane), Sam Huntington (Jimmy Olsen), Kevin Spacey (Lex Luthor), Hugh Laurie (Perry White), and James Marsden (Richard White).

Former Sex in the City star Sarah Jessica Parker will play the female lead in the romantic comedy Failure to Launch with Matthew McConaughey, according to Variety.

The project, which will be directed by Tom Dey (Shanghai Noon) tells the story of a thirtysomething guy who still lives with his parents in order to scare women away. When he meets the woman of his dreams, he reconsiders his living arrangements but becomes suspicious that she was hired by his parents to get him out of the house.

Paramount Pictures will distribute the film. Production will begin in April.

Drea De Matteo (Joey), Queen Latifah and Ray Romano has officially joined the voice-cast of Fox’s Ice Age 2 : The Meltdown.

Matteo will play Sith’s (voiced by John Leguizamo) love interest in the sequel to the icy family hit, whilst TV fave Romano returns to voice the role of Manfred. Singer turned actress Latifah will be playing a female Mammoth – someone for Manfred to cuddly with in an icy cave.

Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel (Multiplicity), have penned the story for the follow-up. The sequel will be in theatres next year.
