[Raw] Locker room Upset By Batista/La Resistance Squash

Archive

To qualify for the Royal Rumble several weeks ago on Raw, GM Eric Bischoff set up a match between Batista and then-Raw Tag team champions La Resistance. The winner of the match would qualify for the Rumble match.

Batista basically squashed the team en route to the Rumble, with the bookers feeling it just cemented Batista as an unstoppable monster.

However, there were some reservations about the match and the message it sent to fans.

First, it was thought that the tag team titles were devalued, because one singles wrestler could single handedly defeat them. This was similar to when the Undertaker would beat then WWE tag champs Edge and Christian in handicap matches.

Also, WWE tag teams that had trouble with La Resistance recently were made to look weak as well, as they sold and had a long match, where Batista steamrolled over the team.

This is the type of situation that has wrestlers doubt a writing team made up of mostly non-wrestling fans, and that someone with wrestling knowledge needs to have more power in the creative team.
