WWE Bottomline Report 12/2/05
Welcome to the recap, we are live and we are LATE! The MSU/MICH game slightly delayed the behemoth that is WWE Bottomline, but we’re here now and I am ready to recap the recap!
The scene was Tokyo, Japan….okay, actually, the plane going to Japan. Simon Dean of all people gives a recap of how it’s unlike anything else. Thankfully they let HHH talk. And Val Venis! I haven’t seen him in months!
WWE Bottomline Credits. Mark Loyd says we’ve got a huge show, and there’s another clue on winning to Wrestlemania! Good God I hope I win. So, lets look back at last Monday’s Raw, where they had a different set for once, and the opening match of Benoit and Jericho’s Submission match!
Benoit goes up for the headbutt and lands it on Jericho’s lower back. They’re both down, but Benoit gets up and leaps into a crippler crossface that is easily escaped by Jericho. He lands a clothesline, and a Lionsault attempt blocked, but Jericho grabs Benoits’ legs and tries the Walls of Jericho. This is reversed into an irish whip and another Crossface attempt. He’s got it even more locked on than usual, it’s almost a choke hold. Jericho makes the ropes however. Benoit lifts him up, but Jericho reverses into the walls of Jericho, which Benoit kicks out of and they get tangled up, and Benoit cinches in on Jericho’s left arm and leans waaaaay back into a modified crippler crossface that just looks vicious. Jericho has nowhere to go and can’t help but tap out, giving Benoit the victory. They shake hands and Jericho leaves the ring for Benoit to celebrate.
Up next, William Regal and Tajiri face La Resistance!
NWO next Sunday on Pay Per View! Barbed wire steel! Seemingly nothing else of note!
Commercials.
Wrestlemania 21 is in 7 weeks! Mark Loyd says we’re cruising to get there. What? Anyways, Tajiri gets quite the ovation from his home country, and Regal and Tajiri just might win the tag straps! We cut into the match just when Tajiri hits a bulldog on Grenier for two. Tajiri goes up, gets a DDT countered, but gets a crescent kick for two, broken up by Conway. Double team attempt reversed by a backflip forearm. Tarantula on Grenier! Broken up by Conway, but Regal grabs him down. Grenier grabs the french flag, but Tajiri kicks it out of his hands, GREEN MIST! Crescent kick on Grenier and he gets the pin! Tajiri goes out and celebrates with the fans, and Regal follows him.
The opportunity to go to wrestlemania is in about 10 minutes or so. But first, or rather up next, Maven challenges Batista!

Upcoming dates. Smackdown! ~ March 12th in Oshawa, tickets go on sale February 12th….today. Tix go on sale today.
WWE Rewid, brought to us by Constantine…not The Constantines, the awesome Toronto Indie band. Raw 2 weeks ago, JBL challenging Batista for Wrestlemania.
We’re back, and Mark Loyd doesn’t know who played the tape. Well, if he doesn’t, we’ll never know! This cuts to HHH thinking that maybe he should wrestle Batista at Wrestlemania after all. Flair defends the original idea of Batista going to Smackdown, which is somehow the greatest idea of all time.
Meanwhile, Maven issued a challenge, and Batista comes out and powerbombs Maven, pinning him withing 10 seconds (at least, going by what we get shown on this show). His celebration is interrupted, however, by the Big Show saying that Raw is the small pond and basically calling Batista a pussy. Batista goes backstage and questions Eric Bischoff, but Easy E has nothing but hype about Raw for him.
Up next, Clue number 2!
Commercials.
Okay, Clue number 2 for the 4 person trip to Wrestlemania. After four of them, there’ll be another question that we have to answer on wwe.com. – This WWE RAW superstar has wrestled in 9 Wrestlemania events. – Hmm….
And now we get another video of WWE nominee inductees. Orndoff. Sheik, Volkoff, Bobby Orton, and Jimmy Hart. I’m glad this video isn’t as long as the one on Heat was last week.
Up next, Christian challenges Randy Orton.
Hey, the RVD Dvd is out, and they’re making it look like belongs in the same bin as the Best of the Intercontinental Championship DVD that came out in 1995.
We’re back and yakking on about Randy Orton (“Who does THIS a lot”, that was so funny) as he takes on Tyson Tomko. Powerslam by Tomko followed by a scream and a camera cut to Christian dragging out Stacy Keibler. Tomko hits a clothesline, and Orton is grabbing his head again. Camera cut to Orton giving a dropkick, but still holding his head. He can’t capitalize, so Tomko lands some punches, but Orton counters an irish whip into a rollup and the pin! Before he can celebrate, Christian comes in and knocks Orton out. Tomko lifts up Orton, and Christian taunts him in front of Keibler. Unprettier on Orton and he’s out cold.
Wrestlemania recall. Razor Ramon winning the Intercontinental championship in the ladder match 11 years ago….wow, 11 years ago. Guess which character has evolved more?

We’re back, and WWE bottomline is brought to you by Fair Enough, a movie I have never, ever heard of.
HBK and Ric Flair got it on in Japan! Backslide pin attempt by Michaels gets two, and he knocks Flair out with an enziguri. Chops in the corner go back and forth, with Flair winning, going to the top, and Michaels powerslamming him off. Flying forearm and a nip-up leads to a back body drop, a power slam, an elbow from the top, and then the tuning of the band leading to sweet chin music and the pinfall! Wow. Flair got 2 chops in for offense.
Minutes before the title match, HHH gives Batista the rundown on how they should both be world champs. It’s bigger than DX, it’s bigger than the horsemen (oh Flair did NOT just mention the horsemen on WWE tv), and Batista says he’ll think about it.
Up next, Edge is angry! Edge is shaking! Edge is fighting HHH and doesn’t have a freaking chance.
Volume 1 of the Wrestlemania collection is out now…in magazine form. I’ll care when they bring out the DVD sets. I’d love them to do them 5 at a time or something like that and stock load them with an extra disc or two’s worth of bonus features and documentaries and promotional materials, and have subordinate commentary by Vince and Hulk Hogan throughout the whole thing. Oh come on, you know you’d love to hear what Vince and Hulk think of Skinner Vs Owen Hart at WM8.
Snickers Cruncher presents Wrestlemania. It’s sort of funny to think backwards on that in being that this wrestlemania would not happen if Snickers Cruncher did not present it. “The Chocolate says no!”
Anyways, 2 weeks ago, Edge speared HHH, so now they fight about it. Edge locks in the Edgecution (still called a ‘unique submission’) HHH sells it better than anyone, but Edge has it locked in. It’s a great move visual wise, because HHH can flail and scream all over the place while in it and look like it’s killing him, but I’m not terribly sure how exactly that move hurts. Anyways, HHH gets to the rope, so Edge goes for the spear but hits the ref instead, then hits the reverse neckbreaker on HHH and gets the pin!…if only there were a referee. So Flair comes in with a chair but gets speared. Edge sees the chair and grabs it, but HHH ducks and hits a back body drop ( a ‘suplex’ by JR) Both guys go for the chair, ut Batista pulls it off and HHH looks pretty angry about it. HHH shoves Edge off the apron right into Batista HHH rolls Edge back into the ring and goes for the pedigree, but Edge counters it into a leaping DDT. Edge readies the spear, but Batista flies in and hits a spinebuster on Edge. HHH hits the pedigree, the ref wakes up, and this is all very, very over. Batista comes in to tell HHH…something, and then they hug, and he raises his arm and his title, but Batista is having a lot of trouble looking away from that belt. HHH notices and looks amazingly worried, and could this be an indication of which show Batista will choose?
Well, maybe he should raise JBL’s hand and look really closely at the WWE title before he makes a fair decision. Just my two cents. Mark Loyd thanks us for watching and that’s the show.
