WWE Velocity- February 12th, 2005

-We start off with Rene Dupree making his way to the ring, set to take on Hardcore Holly. Oh noes.

-Rene Dupree vs. Hardcore Holly. Rene starts off by pulling Holly off the ropes and punching him. Rene stomps and whips Holly to the corner, but Holly moves away and schoolboys for 2. Shots by Holly, then a full nelson slam that sends Dupree to the outside. Dupree hangs Holly up on the ropes, gets back in the ring, and chokes him out. Shots by Dupree, and a hard whip to the corner that sends Holly down. Dupree with some gloating, then a rear chinlock. Holly fights out, but walks into a slam for the 2. Dupree with more choking, and another rear chinlock. Holly fights out, and both men exchange blows. Dupree sent to the ropes, shoulderblock, and both men are down. Back up, Holly with a pair of clotheslines, followed by the big dropkick for 2. Holly with his ‘Hang up and kick’ move, then he goes up top. He comes down with a flying clothesline, but Dupree moves out of the way, and it’s time for the French Tickler, which gets the biggest pop of this match. Holly comes back and throws Dupree into the ropes. Dupree walks right into the Alabamaslam, and that’s all she wrote. **.

-Tonight, another match in the continuing saga of Akio and Paul London.

-WWE Rewind: Undertaker taking out Mark Jindrak in response to Luther’s jibber jabbering.

-Charlie Haas vs. Spike Dudley. Spike with a go behind. Charlie reverses, and hits a trifecta of takedowns to send Spike scrambling to the outside. Back in, Haas hits a bodyslam, then locks on a full nelson. Spike slips out but rolls right back into it. Spike gets to the ropes by placing hit feet on the top ropes, so Haas just lets go and watches him fall. Spike slaps Haas, so Charlie goes behind, hits a waist lock takedown into a front facelock rolled into a suplex. He hangs Spike up on the top rope and kicks him to the outside. Back in, some cheap shots by Spike, and he sends Charlie shoulder-first into the turnbuckle. Some shots and then she starts working on the arm. Charlie comes back with a fameasser-ish move, and some punches. Spike slips out of a bodyslam attempt and goes for the Dudley Dog, but Haas reverses into a flapjack. Spike starts to head back to the locker room, but Charlie cuts him off and fireman carries him back to the ring. Spike punches Charlie a few times, but then walks into a standing Exploder, allowing Charlie to get the uno-dos-tres. **.

-Up next, JBL and his drugged antics.

-Back on Velocity, a recap of JBL’s escapades on SmackDown. He of course gets hit with a tranquelizer dart accidentally and walks around all drugged up in comedic fashion. He takes a Godzilla balloon to the ring, and soon after Big Show comes strolling out. JBL then attacks him (whoamg we been swerved!!lolololololo!11111111 huh?) The whole Cabinet comes out to attack Show, but he fights them all off.

-Some of the No Mercy card is run down for us.

-Up next, Akio/London.

-Back on Velocity, Akio/London time. Yes.

-Akio vs London. Face off, applause by crowd. Lockup, armdrag by Akio. Lockup, London to the ropes, both reverse each other. Akio ends up in the corner, London backs off. Lockup, headlock by Akio. London reverses into his own headlock, Akio reverses to a waistlock takedown to front facelock. London reverses that, Akio reverses into some leg scissors, London escapes. Akio offers a handshake, but cheapshots London. London reverses a move into a headlock, but Akio comes back. Akio with an upper wristlock that bends London backwards. London fights up out of it but Akio trips him down. Akio with another hold, London fights out, Akio rolls over him, runs off the ropes, and runs into a big kick. Akio taken to the corner, London with his jumping double foot stomp. London starts to fire up, and gets backdropped onto the ring apron. London jumps back over the ropes and headscissors Akio. Akio bails to the outside. London fires up and signals for a high flying move, but Akio runs out of the way. Back in, test of strength. Akio maneuvers into a rear cross-arm chinlock. London reverses into his own version of the move. Akio escapes and sends London into the corner. Akio runs and connects with his backflip-dropkick. He charges again, but London moves out of the way and Akio gets sent shoulder-first into the turnbuckle, and he falls to the outside. We take a break. Thank god, I can barely keep up.

-Back on Velocity, London in control. Akio in the corner, London getting some punches in. Akio pushes London off him. London tries some headscissors, but Akio pushes him off, sending him crashing to the ringsteps on the outside, which looks sick. Back in, Akio gets a 2 count. Akio locks on his Tarantula-ish Neck-lock on the ropes. Sleeper applied by Akio. London escapes, but Akio nails an Enziguri for 2. Akio hits some shots and chops. London into the corner, Akio runs and hits a forearm shot. Akio goes up top, but he misses a flying elbow drop. Both men down. London starts fighting back and the two trade shots. London gets the upper hand and connects with a jawbreaker. He follows this up with a rolling kick, and some clotheslines and a back body drop. London firing up now, hits the dropkick for 2. Akio sent into the corner, London runs into an elbow, but Akio walks into a calf kick for 2. London sent over the top rope, but he skins the cat back in. Akio sent over the top rope to the outside, and London is able to hit a somersault plancha. Back in, London goes up top, but jumps right into a spin kick that gets a 2 count for Akio. Akio now in control. He sets London up on the top rope, and tries a hurricanrana, but London tosses him off and lets him drop. London to his feet up top, and he comes down with the 450 to win this great match. ****1/2.

-My Thoughts: Enjoyable show overall, as the awesome main event was supported by solid lower card matches.
