I dunno if you can use these or not but here goes:

This event was held in Steubenville, Ohio in what I found to be a surprisingly small facility. It was called the St. John Arena, but the “arena” term was used loosely. It was pretty much an average high school fieldhouse. But with the small size I can’t imagine there were any “bad” seats. My tickets were comp general admission tickets I got through work. I believe the regular tickets like I had were $20, and yet still there were some empty areas. I’d say attendance was in the 2800-3000 range. I also made what was apparently the only purchase of a “Captain Charisma” t-shirt for the night.

The National Anthem was interrupted by La Resistance’s theme to a lot of crowd heat. The marks were in full effect as well, which made for a rather enjoyable night. Tajiri and William Regal entered as Grenier started singing, much to the delight of the crowd. The cheap heel heat La Res gained through their cheating tactics was insane. The crowd was very into this match as they were for all others. The constant “USA” chant bothered me considering the one American guy in the ring (not counting Rob Conway) was the referee. Maybe there’s a lot of Chad Patten fans in Steubenville. Eventually Regal made the pin after the usual heel miscommunication and he and Tajiri retained their tag team titles.

“The Masterpiece” Chris Masters took a win over Val Venis who was rather popular with the crowd. Val’s shaved head will take some getting used to. Masters had a rather sloppy looking and boring finisher which I can’t actually recall the specifics of.

Christian took a win over the Hurricane and I was the odd man out as the crowd was for Hurricane to a surprising degree as he got one of the biggest pops of the night. Christian’s run toward Hurricane and then quick retreat to the “beg-off” was one of the funnier moments of the night. With a little help from the ropes he took the win.

Trish retained her title in a 3 way match with Victoria and Molly Holly. I was impressed with the heel heat Trish received without ever having to get on the mic.

My faith was restored in humanity when I finally saw someone else purchase a Christian t-shirt.

Mahammad Hassan beat Rhyno by submission in my “Hot Dog Run” match.

Kane and Snitsky had a nice little hardcore brawl. It was most likely the best Snitsky match I’ve seen. Kane finally succeeded on his second attempt at a chokeslam and got the pin. It was strange seeing him after a win minus the pyro, so the post-match was rather awkward.

Then came the 5 minute intermission before the final two matches.

Khosrow Daivari came out and started his ever popular Arabic rant which was interrupted by Batista who had the biggest pop of the night. The Batista Bomb shut Daivari up for good.

Shelton Benjamin defeated Edge cleanly in an Intercontinental title match. The crowd never really got too into this one and Edge’s entrance was rather face-like, posing for the cameras and generally acting happy to be there. Benjamin had a little crowd support but the crowd was rather dead for most of the match.

The main event was Triple H and Randy Orton. Triple H’s entrance was still rather impressive despite the setting. The crowd was really into this match and it at one point found it’s way into the crowd. Triple H found an extension cord and choke Orton with it. I must have missed the no DQ stipulation. This was mostly a brawl and eventually chairs became involved and Orton whacked Trips with it and it spilled out of the ring as I left to beat the traffic home.

This was my first non-televised WWE event and I was surprised by the effort put forth by everyone involved. There were no “no-shows” with the exception of The Coach, but I’m sure no one cared or noticed. Very little talking and some excellent storytelling in the ring. The hot crowd and large amount of marks in the stands helped make an aven better experience out of it.
