TNA At Ringside – The Debut Column

Columns

Welcome to my debut column here at IP Wrestling, let’s pray I’m doing this right.

First off let me get my plug out of the way My Blog That is my Scott Keith like blog. Check it out, leave some comments if you want, thanks.

Now that that’s out of the way we kick off the debut column with a recap of TNAs latest PPV Against All Odds

Against All Odds Recap

*Elix Skipper defeated Petey Williams: This match was on the card? Good match but no build up kinda killed it
*BG James & Jeff Hammond defated Kazarian & Michael Shane: Kazarian and Shane have lost all credibility
*Raven defeated Dustin Rhodes: Good to see Rhodes put Raven over, despite his dads stroke with the company…now if somebody else would do the same
*America’s Most Wanted defeated Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt to retain the Tag Titles: Ok, now put Kash back in the X Division and get him away from the Test wanna be
*Abyss defeated Jeff Hardy in a Full Metal Mayhem match: When you job to a guy that was halfway to the WWE, you know you’re going nowhere in the promotion
*Monty Brown & Diamond Dallas Page defeated Team Canada: Best thing about this match? No drunken Scott Hall
*AJ Styles defeated Christopher Daniels, 2 falls to 1 in Overtime in the 30 minute Iron Man Match, to retain the X Division Title: Sources say a rematch is in the works. Anyone care to argue that? Didn’t think so
*Jeff Jarrett defeated Kevin Nash to retain to World Title: Sean Waltman returned, Billy Gunn debuted, BG James came out and it was 1998 all over again

TNA follows one simple PPV formula: Book one match that will be a 5 star match and the rest that are average or better. Simple but it’s been affective

Ok now I must pose the question, what is TNA really thinking? Let’s take a look at their transactions within the past month or so. Hire Dustin Rhodes, a guy most famous for kissing men right before kicking them in the groin. Hire Billy Gunn, a guy who was given plenty of oppurtunity in the WWE (must I remind you of his King Of The Ring win and his feud with The Rock?) but never made the most of it. Hire Sean Waltman, who I think will be gone in a month because he will be sick of hearing “So, hows it feel to have a smaller penis than Chyna?” Yet they release Alex Shelley.

Why do most people watch TNA? The X Division. What has TNA done with the X Division as of late? Lets take a look:
-Chris Sabin, not on the PPV card
-Skipper vs Williams, no build up
-Shane and Kazarian, jobbing to a race car driver
-Kid Kash, teaming with Dallas
-Jeff Hardy, losing to Abyss
-Clark and Batts (two guys who I think could shine in the X Division), losing to the Harris Brothers
-Sonny Siaki, losing to Candido on Impact!
Those are the main guys that I have been seeing on TV weekly and that’s what they have been doing. It seems like the only X Division match TNA seems to care about, is the one involving the X Division Title. Now the next TNA PPV is Destination X in which a 4 Man Ultimate X match will take place. Now I was a big fan of the last Ultimate X involving AJ/Petey/Sabin but it seems as if TNA is overkilling this match. It’s like they are saying “The fans are upset at X Division booking so lets give them an Ultimate X match” much like the WWE used to do with the Ladder Match. One good thing is that CM Punk was backstage at the PPV, hopefully that is a sign that he will sign with TNA in the near future.

Ok, moving away from the X Division and now focussing on the Heavyweight Division. Kevin Nash delivered a very good match against Jarrett in the Main Event at Against All Odds but just why was Nash in the Main Event? Because Jarret accidently hit Scott Hall? I know most feuds start because Wrestler X has a “beef” with Wrestler Y but this was a horrible example. If anyone had a claim to fighting Jarrett at this month’s PPV, it was Monty Brown. Monty Brown won the 3 Man Elimination Match then had to wrestle Jarrett later in the night only to lose because Jarrett used the guitar in order to set up his victory. Yet Nash, who was the first man out of the Elimination Match gets a World Title shot with a stipulation that if Jarrett uses the guitar he loses the title. That’s TNA booking for you.

That’s all for this edition. You’ll notice I didn’t mention TNAs Tag Division because it’s becoming much like the WWEs Tag Division, non-existing. Drop me a line at AMPLine4Life@aol.com and join me next time At Ringside CyA

As I end this I have some breaking news (that has already been reported by Blatt.) Frankie Kazarian has left TNA and is close to signing with the WWE. Two comments on this: 1. Last time someone left and was close to signing with the WWE, they came back and earned themselves a World Title Shot. That man of course being Abyss. 2. I pray TNA gives Michael Shane something to do now with the departure of Kazarian. Also how can you blame Kazarian for leaving? He just got jobbed to a NASCAR Driver. I hope he enjoys wrestling on Velocity in the WWE.

Ok now that truely is all for this weeks edition. CyA
