There is good news and bad news for WWE in the early buy rate number for the Royal Rumble. On the good side, they did about 450,000 buys, which is best that they have done on a pay show since last year’s SummerSlam. On the bad side of things, that is, by far, the lowest number that they have done for Royal Rumble in the last four years. The 2002 show scored about 670,000 buys. 2003 did about 500,000 while last year’s Rumble did about 590,000. If this can be used as an indicator for the WrestleMania buy rate, which is generally looked at as the barometer that sets the financial course for WWE’s year, this is
not a promising aspect.
