WWE Sunday Night Heat Report

It’s an hour before No Way Out, which means it’s roughly two hours before the BARB WIRE STEEL CAGE MATCH. What insight’s will Sunday Night Heat, a Raw show, give about the pay per view only minutes away?

We are LIVE in Pittsburgh, and Todd Grisham is here and Ivory is showing us some leg! Lets run over the main event and talk about Batista! Brand extension? What Brand extension?

So lets go back to Monday Night Raw, where JBL’s limo was backstage. Batista went after it, HHH saved him from being run over, and the limo gets away. Damn you limo! You’re wrestling’s biggest ghost!

We then get a video from Smackdown, and Batista destroying JBL’s limo with STYLE and PIZZAZ.

We then get a video of JBL fighting the Big Show, the cabinet interfering, Batista coming in to save.

As An Aside…It took them 15 minutes to get through this stuff yesterday on Bottomline, and here they are, getting through it in 4. Maybe that means we’ll get some actual stuff done tonight.

Meanwhile…JBL’s BRAND SPANKING NEW LIMO, sans bullhorns, arrives with his cabinet, sans the image consultant girl.

Tonight, Charlie Hass and Hardore Holly fight Kenzo Suzuki and Renee Dupree.

Commercials.

We’re back, and we’re told that the Bashams will fight Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guererro by a guy I’ve never, ever seen before.

Last week, there was a press conference. Teddy Long says it’ll be the best one Pittsburgh has ever had. He also guarantees that Batista will be there.

Commercials, and one for WWE24/7, something my local Rogers refuses to acknowledge.

We now take a look at the Number 1 contenders tournament, with Fozzy music playing over top, leading to the finalists, Cena and Angle to fight TONIGHT. Really great video package that highlighted the actual wrestling in the matches and not the angles around them.

Kurt Angle cuts a promo. “I’ve main evented the last two wrestlemania, and all I have to do to do again is beat John freaking Cena. I’ve beaten him every time I’ve faced him, and tonight will be no different….Professionally, I’m going to make him tap, but personally, I’m going to hurt John Cena.” He then makes sure Pittsburgh doesn’t cheer him by lambasting the Steelers.

Commercials.

Welcome back to Ivory and Todd Grishom outside in the rain. Ivory is especially peppy this evening. They introduce the video for the WWE Hall of fame, which has now added Rowdy Roddy Piper. Todd tells us that more will be added soon.

They cut to inside, and wow, does that look interesting. The cage is already on the ring, and the barb wire is really large and does look intimidating. What’s cool about it is that you can’t see the crowd. The lights are down over them like it’s NWA in 1985 or something. You know, back when they did those crazy cage matches….hey!

Commercials…including the pulp fiction one with Eddie and Booker T. “You will know my name is the lord, now can you dig that, sucka!” Not quite as good as the Basic Instinct one, but a close second.

Michael Cole and Tazz run down the card.

Kenzo Suzuki and Renee Dupree (w/ Hiroko) Vs. Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas. — Commercials cut the beginning off, but we’re back to see Charlie Haas hit a chinlock, break it, hit a fireman’s carry, and tag Hardcore Holly. Armbar and some pounding forearms to the shoulder of Renee Dupree. Irish whip reversed into that thing Holly does where he kicks the guy in the abdomen on the ropes. Chops in the corner to Renee, and a chop to Suzuki for good measure. Drop toe hold to a front head lock, tage to Haas, Irish whip to a double hip toss. Suzuki comes in and they give him one, too. Both the stereotyped foreigners go out, and the stereotypical Americans follow them, bring them back in, and hit some chops. Dupree hits a neckbreaker on Haas, and gets some punches to the head. Irish whip to the corner. Tag to Suzuki, and a choke to Haas in the corner. Japanese chops reversed to some punches, reversed to a clothesline to Haas. Pin attempt, but only gets 2. Tag to Dupree, who gets a 2 count, and leads to a really pathetic looking chinlock. Haas takes no time breaking off, and hits a T-bone suplex. Hot tag to Hardcore Holly. Dropkick on Suziki. Scoop slam to Dupree. Hardcore goes up top, and hits a flying clothesline on Suzuki for two. Dupree gets dumped to the outside by Haas. Hardcore Holly hits the Alabama Slam on Suzuki, and that gets the three count.

Winners: Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas.

Michael Cole and Tazz pimp the Steel Cage Match, and that’s our show.

As An Aside…I love the fact that they’re focused on the actual ‘match’ and not even who is in it. This is the big attraction to this PPV obviously, and hopefully they’ll deliver with something bloody, fierce, and unique. I like it when the ‘big’ idea is something that could be spectacular. Here’s hoping they pull it off. See you next week.
