Jesse Ventura was a guest speaker at Dickinson College on the subject of Fitness, Physique and Psyche. Ventura talked about too much governmental regulation and when asked if he was going to run for president in 2008, he said, “Unlikely.” He then followed with, “I can beat these guys–and they need to be beaten. We have a two-party system in America and it sucks.” Ventura was said to speak with approval for gay marriage and against the war in Iraq. He admitted to using steroids when asked (as he has many times in the past) saying in one month, his bench went from 315 to 390 on steroids. On steroids in sports, he said, “I think it’s more of an indictment on our society–the will to win at all costs mentality. If you finish in second place, everybody forgets about you.”

Today’s San Diego Union-Tribune has an article on WWE Hall of Fame member, Ernie Ladd, who has fully recovered from colon cancer that at one point was thought to be terminal. Ladd will be honored tomorrow night in the San Diego Hall of Champions Hall of Fame at the Town Country Resort and Convention Center in Mission Valley. Ladd is a former member of the San Diego Chargers who started his wrestling career in San Diego when Freddie Blassie was looking for an attraction to pick up the poor crowds and recruited the giant football player.
