I think the only way that I can pay proper tribute to the man who was the greatest influence on my literary style and who showed me the potential of what a column could be is to go dark for today. It’s a demonstration that, without him being available at an impressionable age for me, when I was open to new ideas and new forms of writing, my columns would be nothing.
