Today’s Halifax Daily News has an interesting article on Rock and the new movie “Be Cool.” Rock notes that writer Elmore Leonard wrote the role of Elliot Wilhelm for him specifically in the original book many years ago. In the book, the gay bodyguard was a 6-5, 270-pound half-Samoan who was noted for raising one eyebrow. Rock went on to talk about hoping the gay community will be positive about his portrayal, saying he has had a lot of positive gay influences on his life, mentioning in specific, his wrestling mentor and friend, Pat Patterson.
