[ECW] Tommy Dreamer Heading Up WWE’s ECW Project

Archive

As has been reported in the past, WWE.com has June 12 listed as a “To Be Determined” pay per view to take place in NYC — which most feel will either be the return of King of the Ring or of an ECW “reunion” event at Hammerstein Ballroom, where the final ECW big events were held.

WWE’s Tommy Dreamer, who has been taking an off-screen role lately, has been contacting former ECW stars that aren’t under contract with WWE to see if they want to take part in the ECW PPV, currently dubbed “One Night Stand.”

The Sandman is among those recently contacted by Dreamer, who is heading up this project. PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson is reporting that this may or may not be related to WWE hoping to keep ECW workers off of Shane Douglas’ planned reunion show scheduled for Friday 6/10 at ECW Arena.

Rob Van Dam has recently all but confirmed the existance of such a PPV, saying he would not be able to work it due to his recent knee surgery. At its earnings call yesterday, Linda McMahon talked about the success of the ECW DVD, and former ECW TV Champ RVD’s DVD is currently near the top of the sports DVDs in sales.
