In a recent interview on SLAM! Sports, WWE United States Champion and #1 contender to the WWE Title John Cena talks about his prediction that he’d be main eventing Wrestlemania XX and how he “tried to be Joe Namath,” coming up from OVW with Batista and Orton, his past in UPW, and his relationships pre-WWE with current Ring of Honor star Samoa Joe, injured SD superstar Jesus, RAW vs. Smackdown, and incoming WWE cruiserweight/former TNA star Frankie Kazarian. On the above, he said: “It would be an honor to see those guys again and have them be part of what I feel is the best sports entertainment company in the world. I hope they can make that transition, the style in Ring of Honor and TNA are a little different. But they both work unbelievably and are sports entertainers at heart and could fit in. I hope they do come over.”

Kazarian’s former tag team partner with TNA Michael Shane was also recently interviewed, on Between The Ropes Radio. He said that he’s happy for Frankie’s move to WWE and that it was a tough decision for him to make. He’s hoping he’ll get a renewed singles push in the X or World Title divisions now, and the tag team was actually dumb luck, as they clicked once in a 6-man tag. He mentioned that “name talent” is important, as it draws people in to then see the X Division and quality of overall work. He gave a sense of the TNA lockerroom and how a lot of talented wrestlers give him advice, like AJ, Daniels, and others, and mentioned that Shane Douglas was a big help. When asked about WWE, he said he likes the Batista storyline, and he mentioned he wondered what ever happened to “Little Johnny” (Shane and Heidenreich worked together with Zero One).

Regarding Internet fans, Shane said that he does not pay too much attention to what is written about him on the Net, as it’s only about 10 percent of the entire wrestling crowd, and the casual fans need to be catered to.
