Episode 5.16: So… Good Talk
Airdate: March 1, 2005

When Richard and Emily return from their second honeymoon, Rory attends Friday-night dinner—sans Lorelai, who refuses to speak to her mother and plans a girls’ night out with Sookie instead. Meanwhile, Luke, who’s miserable without Lorelai, takes his anger out on his customers.

Richard and Emily return from their second honeymoon and Rory attends the customary Friday night dinner, but an angry Lorelai refuses to see or speak to Emily. Rory surprises everyone with a rare outburst at her grandmother for interfering in Lorelai’s love life. Miserable without Lorelai, Luke’s dark mood causes him to burn the food and throw any customers who complain out the door of the diner. Emily pays an unexpected visit to the diner to talk to Luke. Meanwhile, Lane is horrified when she realizes that her mother has more influence over her than she thought.

Luke is rather edgy and when one customer wants his omelette redone, he throws him out of the diner. Richard and Emily give a 100-year-old Greek book to Rory. The Gilmores have yet another maid. Sookie and Lorelai have lunch at a bakery. Luke’s boat is still parked in front of the diner and a meter maid is writing a ticket to put on it but Lorelai comes in time to put some quarters in the meter. Lane appears in the episode.
