There have been a lot of rumors lately that state Brandon Routh’s might be kicked out of Superman. The rumor has now apparently been confirmed as false. A WB contact has supposedly stated that Routh’s doing “dazzingly good” as the man of steel and that any talk of Tom Welling replacing him is no more, no less than “Welling fans – hoping for something like that to happen”.

In other Supes news, Superman Homepage caught up with director Bryan Singer who updated the site on the film’s progress. He stated that the movie kicks off in two weeks, he just has to cast one more role. “A female accomplice for Lex Luthor”.

Singer was asked why he has decided to do the film as a sequel to the original films. “Um, because I’m a huge fan of the original film. I think that kids under the age of 18 know Smallville, I think over that age they know the series and the original film, and I think somewhere in there I didn’t want to tread over that”, he tells.

Singer says Superman will have been away for a while in the film. “Between four and five years”. He went on to say that Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth, Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively, have great chemistry.

“Yeah, I read Kate with Brandon, and they were really terrific together. And she was great. I met her through Kevin Spacey’s film Beyond the Sea”, says Singer.

As for Routh’s costume? “It’ll be contemporary but classic in its design”.
