With less and less contestants, FOX is cutting back American Idol’s elimination shows from an hour to 30 minutes, beginning with tonight’s broadcast.
Starting this Wednesday, FOX will air back-to-back episodes of That 70’s Show at 8 and 8:30. American Idol is next at 9, followed by The Simple Life at 9:30.
The season’s first Wednesday results show aired last week and saw the elimination of Jared Yates, Judd Harris, Sarah Mather and Melinda Lira, as “Idol” went from 24 contestants down to 20. Many fans loudly complained about how much ‘filler’ the network used to fill an hour of programming.
