ABC Leads Daytime Emmy Nominations

The Daytime Emmy nominations came out and ABC leads the pack.

Led by 18 nods for its soap “All My Children, ABC leads the contenders for the 32nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards with 53 total nominations. CBS was the No. 2 network with 47 nominations but only third overall, as syndicated shows together earned 49 nods. PBS is fourth with 32 nominees; NBC, with 10, was the only other network to reach double figures.

Fellow ABC soap “General Hospital,” CBS’s “Guiding Light” and the evergreen PBS kids’ show “Sesame Street” grabbed the second most nominations with 13 each. “The Young and the Restless” is up for 12 awards, while “As the World Turns,” “The View” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” each have 11 nominations.

“General Hospital,” “All My Children,” “The Young and the Restless” and “As the World Turns” will compete for the outstanding drama series award. The award for outstanding talk show will be decided among “Live with Regis and Kelly,” “Dr. Phil,” “Soap Talk,” “The View” and last year’s winner, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

The Daytime Emmy Awards are scheduled to air Friday, May 20 on CBS
