'NYPD Blue' Finale Brings In Over 16 Million Viewers

The series finale of “NYPD Blue” brought out viewers in droves to say goodbye to the cops of the 15th Precinct Tuesday. The show had some of its highest ratings in three years.

16.1 million people watched the groundbreaking show end its 12-season run Tuesday night (March 1). This was its biggest audience since November 2001.

The 16.1 million viewers for the episode represented a huge improvement over “Blue’s” season average of 9.8 million viewers. The finale also drew a 5.2 rating among the ad-friendly adults 18-49 demographic, the show’s best performance in that category since the fall of 2002.
