Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are negotiating to star in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s next film, Babel, according to Variety. Paramount Pictures is close to signing on as the distributor for the project.
The drama will reteam Inarritu with screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga (21 Grams, Amores Perros). The film will interweave four stories set in Morocco, Tunisia, Japan and Mexico, starting with a tragedy befalling a holidaying married couple.
Jennifer Aniston and Meryl Streep are close to starring in Wanted, a film that will tell a story about a female policewoman who is framed for drug trafficking.
Aniston is to play the cop, while Streep is her cellmate, a war protester. The film is an adaptation of a novel by Kim Wozencraft, a former undercover drugs agent who penned the screenplay for Rush.
