The original Assassin Jody Hamilton issued a statement on his website that he will be the owner and operator of Deep South Wrestling as a Georgia-based training center for WWE developmental talent. Hamilton said that a lease on a venue in McDonough, Georgia would be signed today and the promotion would start sometime in early April.
Hamilton also stated that the rumored involvement of NWA Wildside’s Bill Behrens is indeed not a rumor and that he has been hired by WWE to help produce and syndicate a television show for the promotion and promote spot shows for the talent to work on. Behrens currently handles third party bookings for various TNA talent including AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. Although, Behrens later posted a statement on the situation, saying that he has yet to be contracted by WWE. (bottom of the page)
Deep South’s is expected to tape weekly on Wednesday evenings, following the format set up by Ohio Valley Wrestling.
As you may have noticed, WWE has been signing a large number of wrestlers to developmental deals for the new territory and there are expected to be more signings coming soon.
Bill Behrens wrote this message on his website in regard to Jody Hamilton’s earlier announcement regarding his involvement in the new WWE developmental system,
I’m pleased to read Jody’s announcement, however, the part relating to me is a bit premature. I am not yet contracted by WWE.
Currently I remain 3rd party booker for TNA
NWA Wildside has shows scheduled so far through April.
When I can make an announcement about my “involvement” in Deep South, I will.
Behrens has been rumored to be part of this deal for a few months now.
