NBC to Extend ER's Contract

Given NBC’s difficulties attracting viewers this season, it comes as no surprise that they locked up one of its proven shows for a few more seasons.

Sources indicate NBC will extend ER’s contract until 2008; the show is already guaranteed to go until 2006. According to The Hollywood Reporter, recent agreements between Warner Bros and NBC have been for around $8 million-$9 million per-episode, greatly reduced from the $13 million per that the show got back in 1998.

“ER” is still NBC’s most watched show, averaging nearly 16.5 million viewers per episode, even though it is up against CBS’ “Without a Trace.”
