Tarantino Denies Friday the 13th Rumors

Quentin Tarantino has stated that the reports regarding him directing any upcoming Friday the 13th movies for New Line are completely false.

“What’s happening with Friday The 13th? Nothing at all! It’s a complete lie. I like Jason and everything, but I’ve no intention of directing a movie! New Line talked to me about it, but it was a complete fabrication, that article. I would love to do a horror film. I’m just saying it’s not going to be Friday The 13th…”

Tarantino has also said that his next film will most likely be Inglorious Bastards, a pet project of his that tells the story of a group of soldiers trapped behind enemy lines. “I’ve written scenes. I’ve written a lot of it but now I have to sit down and start putting it together in a script that I can start shooting. And that’s a different thing.”

Update: IGN Filmforce, who broke the original story, had this to say about the developments today:

Now we’ve heard some off-the-record skinny about The Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie and why Tarantino is denying the reports. Please bear in mind that, in order to protect our sources, we cannot go into detail right now. Suffice to say that the announcements last week had a ripple effect on other filmmakers and Hollywood figures who are on the periphery of this project. There could very well be new developments regarding Jason Voorhees in the next few weeks.

What that, or any of this means, is anyone’s best guess at this point. Keep it here at Inside Pulse because if and when this story develops more, you’ll see it here.
