The FX series “The Shield” returned to televisions for its fourth season Tuesday night, attracting 3.9 million total viewers.
These numbers were impressive in comparison to what the show averaged in its third season; it was 37% higher than last season’s premiere and 56% higher than the third-season average.
That being said, the show has still not reached the number of viewers it attracted in its first two seasons. The series had more than 4 million viewers in 2002 and 2003.
The cop drama stars Michael Chiklis and Glenn Close , whose addition to the cast has broght the series new-found attention.
