A special Wednesday edition of Survivor helped CBS, but it did not help enough to beat FOX in the ratings.

FOX averaged an 8.4 rating/13 share for the night, edging CBS’s 8.2/13. NBC was a solid third at 6.3/10, while ABC struggled at 5.6/9. UPN’s 2.5/4 was enough for fifth, while The WB lagged behind at 1.4/2.

CBS held on for second with “The King of Queens,” 7.1/11, and “Yes, Dear,” 6.8/11. “The West Wing,” 6.5/10, moved NBC up to third, while “Alias” got a paltry 5.6/8 for ABC.
