Episode 2.17: The Brothers Grim
Airdate: March 24, 2005

The Cohens take in Ryan’s brother (Bradley Stryker) after he’s released from prison, but it appears his criminal past isn’t so distant. Then again, neither is Julie’s amateur porn career, which rears it’s ugly—and naked—head at the launch party for Newport Living; Zach returns from Italy with an unbelievable new girlfriend and a jealous old one.

When Ryan’s past comes for a visit, he is worried that nothing good can come of it. Meanwhile, the Cohen family has welcomed the visitor from Chino with open arms. Marissa and Ryan continue to explore their newfound friendship, while Seth and Summer face some unforeseen news. Meanwhile, Julie admits her mistake to Kirsten and looks to Caleb for help. Guest Cast: Billy Campbell as Carter, Johnny Messner as Lance, Michael Cassidy as Zach, Jordan Baker as Elaine, and Logan Marshall-Green as Trey Atwood.

Trey is out of jail and decided to turn to his brother for help and a place to stay. He’ll end up staying in the pool house. He’s looking for a job but it’s not working well. Ryan finds a watch Trey was looking at earlier in the episode when they went shopping with Marissa and accuses his brother of having stole it. Trey says he went back to the store to buy it. The brothers’ relationship goes back to what it used to be… Ryan thinks he’s brother will never change… Trey wants to prove he’s on the right path now. Since he’s brother doesn’t seem to want to give him a chance, Trey storms out. Ryan and Marissa go to a bar in Chino in the hope to find Trey. There is a party at the Cohens for, what it seems, the launch of “Newport Living.” Carter appears in the episode.
