Barney Martin, who portrayed Jerry Seinfeld’s father Morty on more than 20 episodes of “Seinfeld,” died on Monday at the age of 82.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin suffered a prolonged illness from cancer.
Although Phil Bruns originally played the part of Morty Seinfeld, Martin assumed the character in the second season and remained in the cast until the series finale in 1998.
Martin made many guest appearances on some of th biggest shows from the 1970’s and 1980’s, such as “The Odd Couple,” “Hill Street Blues,” “St. Elsewhere,” “Murphy Brown” and “The Wonder Years.”
