\'Beverly Hillbillies\' Creator Dies

Paul Henning, who created the popular television comedies “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “Petticoat Junction” died on Friday of natural causes. The exact cause of death is unknown, though Henning had suffered a number of strokes in recent years; he was 93.

By the time “Beverly Hillbillies” debuted in 1962, Henning had already worked such classics as “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show,” “The Bob Cummings Show” and “The Real McCoys.”

“Hillbillies” was often ranked at the top of the ratings in its nine-year run.
