Studio Set to Announce New Bond?

IESB (www.iesb.net) says Academy Award Nominee Clive Owen is about to be announced as the next James Bond. A reporter for the site claims to not only have gotten a passive nod from Owen on the subject, but direct confirmation from an associate of his that it is a ‘done deal’.

Owen, who has up until now gone out of his way to shoot down any rumours connecting him to the role, has always been a favourite to don the tux. Recently, the leading contenders to replace Pierce Brosnan for 007 were said to be Gerard Butler, Daniel Craig and Julian McMahon. Hugh Jackman was also a name mentioned heavily in the beginning of the search process.

If Owen has gotten the part, he’ll be suiting up for Casino Royale, which will hit theatres November 17 2006.

The source says to expect an announcement next week, after the release of Sin City. As usual, more from the Pulse as it breaks.
