Final Four Scores Big Ratings

Illinois and North Carolina were the big winners Saturday, but CBS was the winner in a different battle. Thanks to the basketball, CBS won the night with a 10.0 rating/17 share. NBC was a distant second with a 4.8/8, just ahead of FOX’s 4.7/8. ABC finished last at 3.4/6.

CBS started off the night with a 9.3/16 for basketball at 8. ABC played to people’s nostalgia with “Little House on the Prairie,” 4.6/8, and FOX went with back-to-back episodes of “Cops.” NBC aired a news special on the Pope’s death and got a 3.2/5.

CBS held the lead at 9 p.m. and FOX moved up to second place on with “America’s Most Wanted,” 5.1/9. NBC moved up to third with “Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit,” 4.7/8 and ABC slipped to last place with a repeat of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

At 10 p.m., CBS padded its lead by getting a 10.6/19, and NBC finished a strong second with “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” 6.5/12. ABC finished the evening with its own news special on Pope John Paul II, 2.8/5.
