InsidePulse’s WWE RAW Report 4.04.05

Archive

First off I just want to say thanks to PK and Widro both for giving me this position. When I first started doing Heat back in August, this was always my goal, as RAW is my preference over SD!

Anyways, I of course caught Wrestlemania last night, and thought it was an overall good show. Not as good as last year, as it didn’t have that moment like Benoit finally winning the big one. Though I will say that I didn’t like the crowd that much, as you could tell it was mostly smarks like last year. Can’t smarks get excited? Hopefully that will change next year when it’s in Chicago.

Now on to RAW…

Video package of WM 21 starts us off.

Hosts are Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross

HHH’s entrance plays, and we don’t get the kick-ass version from last night. He gets on the mic, and says he admits that last night he lost the WHC. Though he says that this is not the start of the Batista era. Last night was just one night, and HHH is aparently great every other night. HHH talks about his rematch clause, which will be used sometime soon by him. He says that when he does get his belt back, he’s going to shove it down each and every one of our throats.

Commercial break.

Shelton Benjamin(c) vs. Christian vs. Chris Jericho- Intercontinental Championship match
Shelton’s pyro is once again gone. Y2J gets a right hand on Christian, and the faces double team on CC for a while. The faces fight over who gets to beat him however, and Y2J clotheslines Benjamin down. Benjamin comes back with a crossbody, but Y2J kicks out after 2. Bulldog, but CC punches Jericho when he goes for the Lionsault. Benjamin gets an inverted backbreaker on CC, but Christian comes back. Neckbreaker gets 2 for CC. Christian goes up, but Shelton catches him to superplex him, and Y2J gets Shelton to do a superplex/powerbomb combo! Y2J gets 2 on both guys. Y2J goes crazy on the guys, but Shelton comes back with a sunset flip for 2, but Christian rolls Shelton up for 2. Y2J cradles both of them for 2. Shelton tries to double splash, but just gets Jericho. Shelton gets a T-Bone Suplex on Y2J, but the ref is distracted. Tomko pulls him out, and Christian gets…2. Inside cradle gets 2 for Jericho. Y2J takes out Tomko, and hooks on the Walls of Jericho on Christian. Shelton breaks it up with a bulldog from the top rope on Chris for 3.

Backstage, Edge officially signs the contract for his title shot. Edge doesn’t want use it right away, as he will tell Bischoff when. So, Bischoff tells Edge who he’s facing tonight…Chris Benoit.

Commercial break.

Orton comes out, whose pyro is also gone. Randy says that it wasn’t suppose to happen like it did. Randy starts making execuses on why he couldn’t pull of the Tombstone last night, as apparently his shoulder gave out. He said that what he saw last night made him sick…the new WHC, Batista. Randy says that he has no respect for Dave, unlike HHH and Taker. Orton brings up that he has pinned Batista not once, but twice this year. He wants to face Batista tonight, but Eric interrupts. Orton cuts him off, and says that he wants Batista in the ring, TONIGHT. So, Eric makes the match.

Commercial break.

Trish Chick Kicks Christy before their match even begins, and Lita retalliates for her. They exchange slaps, but Trish attacks the knee, and hooks on a boston crab.

Commercial break.

They show the Eugene/Hassan/Hogan segment from last night. I’ll admit I had a smile on my face during that.

Commercial break.

HBK walks out with a limp to a big pop. HBK says that he came out here tonight to say thank you. Shawn would apparently like a favor from the crowd. Actually, it’s more of a reaction, as he asks the fans if they would like to see a rematch of Angle/HBK. They pretty much say yes. Shawn says that he’s going to do everything in his power to get what the fans want. Hassan and Daivari interrupt right as Shawn says the result is going to be different. Hassan gets on the mic and says that last night, a broken down has-been laid his hands on him, which the fans cheered. He brings up the fans also cheering when Shawn Micahels lost, which is apparently because they embrace failure. Hassan even goes on the record to call Shawn a loser, which gets him a slap. Shawn looks to get the upperhand, but Daivari attacks the bad ankle, and Hassan gets a Modified STO. Hassan puts on the Camel Clutch, and Daivari kicks him in the head for good measure.

Commercial break.

Edge vs. Chris Benoit
Edge even brings the suitcase with him. Edge goes straight to the arm, but Benoit fights out. Benoit chops him down with his good arm, and hits him with a snap suplex. Benoit gets a hard elbow, but rolls out to deal with his arm. Edge comes out, only to get drived into the railing. Benoit gets a knee, and goes back out. Edge once again follows, but gets chopped and baseball slid. Edge pops the bad arm over the ropes, and Edge goes to work over it. Benoit tries to fight out of a hammerlock, but Edge holds on. Chris does eventually fights out and gets a german. He manages to get some distant triple germans, and goes up. Diving Headbutt misses however. Edge picks up 2. Edge kicks him out as we go to a…

Commercial break.

We’re back with Edge continuing over the arm, now unbandaged. Edge goes up, but Benoit catches him and gets a superplex. Benoit gets the Sharpshooter, but Edge makes it to the ropes. Edgecution is reversed to the Crippler Crossface, but Edge gets out with an armbar takedown. Benoit dodges a Spear, and gets a roll-up for 3!

Edge attacks afterwards, destroying his bad arm with a chair.

Commercial break.

Simon Dean is in the ring with Maven, with some more of his Simon System. Maven endorses the deal, and says that LA stands for Lard Asses. Austin interrupts, with his new “screen shattering” entrance to a huge pop. Austin brings out the old “Hell Yeah” and gets 20,000 middle fingers. Austin says that he hates this garbage in his ring, and asks if Simon has problems with beer drinkers. Dean says that he paid for this time, and Austin asks if he paid for that hair cut. Austin says that he’ll try a protein shake if Simon tries a beer. Simon drinks a bit, and says it’s not that bad, but he needs a few seconds to work off the calories. He does some push-ups, and Austin bets he could do 5 more. Simon does the push-ups until Austin tells him to stop. Austin tries the shake, but spits it out. Steve says that this is a complete rip-off. Maven says this is a man’s drink, and pats Simon on the back, causing him to spill some shake on Steve. Stone Cold unleashes hell on the heels, and gives both Simon and Maven a Stunner.

Commercial break.

Backstage, Orton comes face to face with Kane, who says “I told you so.” Kane says that you can’t beat what you don’t understand, but Orton says he does understand.

Commercial break.

Randy Orton vs. World Heavyweight Champion Batista
Big pop for Dave. Batista takes him down right away with a shouloder block. Orton suckers him in, but Batista comes back with a reverse elbow. Orton fights out of a powerslam, and dropkicks him out. Batista eats steps, and Orton gets 2 back in. Knee drop gets 2. Batista fights out of headlock, and sends Randy’s shoulder into the ringpost. That sounded like it hurt. Back in, spinebuster, and Batista Bomb finsihes it.

HHH and Batista face off to end the show.
