Just thought I’d pass along the details of the Sydney show of the
Wrestlemania Revenge Australian Tour from earlier this evening…

– Show opened with Lilian Garcia coming the ring. She got a good reaction
from the crowd and she gave us the usual intro. She sang the Australian
national anthem, but was interupted by La Res, so onto the first match.

– La Resistance vs Regal/Tajiri – Tag-Title match:

Obviously La Res got a lot of boo’s for interupting the anthem, and Regal
and Tajiri got one of the biggest pop’s of the night for their entrance.
Good formula tag with all the spots we know, Tajiri was our face-in-peril
and Regal made the big save. Crowd was hot for most of this one as it was
the first of the night and La Res are good at pissing the crowd off.
WINNERS: Regal and Tajiri

– Hurricane vs Tyson Tomko:

Another big pop for Hurricane, who is always popular down here. Short match,
lots of posturing between them with Hurricane trying to knock Tomko off his
feet. Hurricane made a few come-backs during the match, but Tomko got it
with power moves. Very entertaining in the end. WINNER: Tyson Tomko

– Lilian introduces Stacy keibler, she comes out, shows her legs and then
introduces Eric Bischoff. he ran down the rest of the card and got a few
pops off that.

– Val Venis vs Chris Masters:

Chris Masters’ intro video reminds me of Lex Luger and the “Narcissist”
deal. Was half expecting Bobby Heenan to turn up with a full-length mirror.
Val Venis got a good reaction. Match was pretty standard, although from a
distacne they lloked the same, same colour trunks, hair-cuts etc. Masters
overpowers Venis in a short match. WINNER: Chris Masters.

– Molly Holly vs Victoria (with Christy Hemme as Special Referee):

Christy Hemme comes out to a good pop, runs and bounces around a lot, then
bounces some more. Victoria and Molly put on a really great match. With
Hemme involved I was expecting her to be the focus, but she stayed out of it
and we got a really good straight-up match. May I say Molly and Victoria can
take damn hard bumps! Great back and forth action, shame it wasn’t longer
actually. And it was great that we got to see two of the three real female
wrestlers perform instead of a pillow-diva-spank-panties-match. Victoria
took it with a vicious-looking Widows Peak in the end. WINNER: Victoria.

– Shelton Benjamin vs Christian (w/Tyson Tomko):

Benjamin got a really great pop, and Christian was great on the mic, just
like last time he was down here, getting the obligatory “You’re a Wanker”
chants. Christian constantly played to the crowd and it was great. Once the
match got going, Christian played the cowardly heel completely over-board
and Benjamin kicked his ass at every opportunity. Fantastic match that went
around 20 minutes, in fact second best of the night, behind the Main-Event.
Benjamin’s finisher look painful close-up! At the end Christian got a cheer
on his way out. WINNER: Shelton Benjamin.

– Chris Jericho vs Muhammad Hassan w/Daivari:

Jericho comes out to a Massive pop. Hassan and Daivari got on the mic and
talked shit, and of course Jericho shut them up in style as per usual. Great
match, with Jericho having to fight the both of them. Daivari finally gets
dragged into the ring by Jericho and placed in the Walls, allowing Hassan to
sneak in and win with a quick roll-up. Crowd was shocked and pissed off, and
showed it. Jericho stayed around to entertain and got another great pop.
WINNER: Muhammad Hassan.

– Ege vs Kane:

Edge got a good pop, as did Kane, although no pyro for Kane which quietened
people down. At first the crowd wasn’t sure who to cheer for, but Edge
played up the heel, running up the aisle at one point, Kane chasing and
dragging him back. Nice spot as Edge drop-kicked Kane as he came off the top
rope for a clothesline. Edge kept escaping the choke-slam, but took one in
the end to give Kane a clean win. WINNER: Kane.

– Triple H/Ric Flair vs Batista/Chris Benoit:

Any guesses as to whether this match kicked ass or not? Flair and Triple H
both got decent pops on their entrances, but they turned to boo’s soon
after. Benoit got a great pop, then the animal arrived. Batista’s entrance
was MASSIVE! Everyone on their feet, going nuts. I was surprised at the
reaction being so big, biggest pop of the night by a mile! Flair gets the
mic and threatens Batista about him climbing the turn-buckles as the crowd
was urging him to do. Then HHH gets the mic and starts ripping into the
audience members, including a guy in fully Rowdy Roddy Piper gear, kilt and
all. Match was fantastic, with Flair and HHH focusing totally on Benoits
hurt arm. They really took it to pieces, until Batista came in and clean
house. Lots of great action, with Benoit and Flair exchanging chops for
extended periods. Two double Flair-flops from the heals as well. Great
match, Batista finally taking it with a Batista-bomb on HHH for the clean
pin. Benoit and Batista celebrate, then Benoit leaves and Batista continues
to work the crowd for several minutes. WINNERS: Benoit and Batista.

Over all a great show crowd was pumped. In the parking lot afterwards lots
of people hung around to see the wrestlers board the buses. Val Venis and
Shelton Banjamin spent ages playing to the crowd. Dean Malenko, Fit Finlay
and Arn Anderson were also there. HHH came out, and climbed on top of a car
to play to the crwod. Most of the wrestlers seemed to be having fun and
Lilian Garcia spent ages taking pics. Lot’s of video got shot so no doubt
there will be something on RAW this week.

Obligatory Biggest POP list:

1. Batista – by a mile
2. Jericho
3. Benoit
4. Regal/Tajiri
5. Stacy Keibler

I like Comics, Wrestling, Super Mario Bros & Dead Space. Oh ya, and Scott Pilgrim.
