Various WWE sources are saying that Matt Hardy was released because WWE creative say that saw him as a mid-card wrestler without a big upside. Hardy was scheduled to talk with John Laurenaitis, V.P. of WWE Talent Relations, following WrestleMania to determine his return to TV, instead that call turned into his dismissal.
While it is not official two other possible reasons Hardy was let go may be:
(a) He brought private, backstage issues public; (b) Edge is a higher priority at this time and it is thought that trying to keep he and Hardy apart would prove to be a pain.
