Despite slightly lower ratings for its centerpiece show, “American Idol,” FOX still had enough to win Tuesday night’s ratings.

Overall, FOX averaged a 12.7 rating/20 share, way ahead of the 8.3/13 for CBS in second place. ABC was a well back in third with a 4.9/7, topping NBC’s 4.7/7 in fourth. The WB held fifth with a 2.0/2 and UPN was last with a 1.5/2.

At 8 p.m., FOX’s “American Idol” had a 14.5/23, scoring a huge win. CBS managed a solid 8.7/14 for “NCIS” in second. ABC was third with the 3.9/6 averaged by “My Wife and Kids” and “George Lopez.” NBC was fourth with reruns of “Will & Grace” and “Scrubs.” The WB’s “Gilmore Girls” had a 2.2/4 for fifth, better than the ratings for UPN’s “All of Us” and “Eve.”

“House” held most of the “Idol” audience and gave FOX an 11.0/17 for the 9 p.m. hour. CBS got a healthy 8.1/12 for “The Amazing Race” to keep second. ABC’s “According to Jim” and “Rodney” held third as NBC’s “Scrubs” and “The Office” scored a disappointing 3.6/5. The WB was fifth with a rerun of “One Tree Hill.” Just days after its renewal for a second season, UPN’s “Veronica Mars” was last with a 1.6/2.

CBS moved into first at 10 p.m. with a 8.0/13 for “Judging Amy.” NBC made it close with “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” ABC’s “Blind Justice” was third with a 5.4/9.
