The last night of the 2004-05 television season just got a little more interesting.
CBS has scheduled its quickly assembled Martha Stewart movie, “Martha: Behind Bars,” for 9 p.m. ET May 25. The film, starring Cybill Shepherd, tracks the last few years of Stewart’s life, including her five-month stay in prison.
CBS’s scheduling move makes an already busy final night of the season a little more hectic. The movie’s first hour will compete against the final hours of “Lost” and “Idol,” and its conclusion will air opposite the finale of “Alias” on ABC.
There has been a perception has been that other networks tend to stay out away the “Idol” finale, that hasn’t actually been the case the past two seasons. CBS aired the Country Music Awards opposite the show in both 2003 and last year, while ABC has run finales of “My Wife and Kids” and “Bachelor” against “Idol.”
