NBC Sways Jury on Friday Night

A fairly quiet night on Friday saw NBC rise to the top of the ratings, mostly due to to “Law & Order: Trial by Jury.”

NBC averaged a 6.6 rating/12 share for the night to beat CBS, 5.8/11. ABC, 4.1/8, finished third, followed by FOX, which managed a 3.1/6. The WB averaged 2.1/4, and UPN trailed behind with a 1.7/3.

NBC won the 8 p.m. hour with “Dateline,” 5.8/11. “Joan of Arcadia,” 4.9/10, was a close second for CBS. Back-to-back episodes of “8 Simple Rules,” including the season finale, averaged 3.9/8 for ABC. FOX was fourth with the Adam Sandler movie “Mr. Deeds.” UPN finished fifth with “Star Trek: Enterprise,” 1.8/3, beating “What I Like About You” and a “Reba” repeat on The WB.

“JAG,” 5.9/11, moved CBS into the top spot at 9 p.m., ahead of NBC’s “Third Watch,” 5.7/10. ABC held onto third with a “Hope & Faith” repeat and the season finale of “Less Than Perfect.” FOX’s movie was fourth at 3.3/5. The WB moved up to fifth with “Reba,” 2.9/5, and “Living with Fran,” 2.4/4. UPN trailed with an “America’s Next Top Model” rerun.

“Trial by Jury,” 8.3/15, posted the night’s highest numbers for NBC at 10 p.m. CBS got a 6.7/12 from “Numb3rs,” while “20/20” came in at 5.1/9 for ABC.
