Although “American Idol” slipped in the ratings from last week, the show still did more than enough to keep FOX atop Tuesday’s ratings.
For the night, FOX averaged a 12.5 rating/20 share, distancing itself from second-place CBS, 7.7/12. NBC’s 4.8/8 was good for third, although ABC (4.7/8) brought more viewers. The return of original programming to The WB boosted it to fifth at 3.0/5,enough to beat UPN’s 1.8/3.
“Idol,” got FOX into the lead at 8 with a 13.9/23, off slightly from last week’s numbers. An “NCIS” repeat, 7.6/12, put CBS in second. The rest of the networks were nowhere to be found, with NBC filler “Most Outrageous TV Moments” coming in third at 3.4/6 and reruns of ABC’s “My Wife and Kids” and “George Lopez” behind that. The first new “Gilmore Girls” in six weeks managed a 3.2/5 for The WB. UPN was last with “All of Us” and “Eve.”
FOX kept the lead at 9 p.m. with “House,” 11.0/17. “The Amazing Race” also kept CBS in second, while ABC moved up to third with episodes of “According to Jim” and “Rodney,” drawing a 5.3/8. NBC improved a little with “Scrubs” and “The Office,” managing a 3.7/6 for the hour. “One Tree Hill” kept The WB in fifth. “Veronica Mars” got a 1.8/3 for UPN.
CBS stole the lead at 10 p.m. with “Judging Amy,” 7.8/13, enough to beat a repeat of “Law & Order: SVU,” 7.3/12, on NBC. ABC’s “Blind Justice” came in third at 5.5/9.
