Matt Hardy on the Opie and Anthony show by phone. He emailed the show asking to be on after Jericho was on last week and was very happy Jericho stuck up for him edited.
Matt said Edge left a lot of psychotic voicemail messages and actively pursued Lita while Matt was hurt. Edge kind of worked his way into Lita’s life. She started travelling with him and
actually it made Matt feel better, because he and Edge were such good friends, it made him feel better that Lita wouldn’t be alone on the road.
Matt found out when Edge’s wife called him and told him about “strange text messages.”
Matt’s appearances started getting cancelled because the company didn’t want the two of them to confront each other.
Matt ended up being the odd man out because he wasn’t on TV at the time. And when the story broke, he went ahead and defended himself. He’s not ashamed of doing it.
Matt needed to clear the record because a lot of people would wonder what he was doing. Was he
beating her? Was he awful? He wasn’t… he just needed to defend himself with the only outlet he had.
Matt feels as though the locker room is on his side, since he was a very loyal employee to the WWE and suddenly found himself released for doing something any of them would do. In once instance in South Carolina, Edge found his tires slashed and Matt got the blame for it, even though he was 200 miles away.
Matt said Edge is very mentally abusive to his wife. They are currently in the process of divorcing.
Matt was happy about the MSG incident last week since he knows Vince uses MSG as a barometer of the wrestling world. It was really telling who’s side New York was on.
Matt had gotten to the point right before his release, where he was ready to just go to Smackdown and be very happy. He’d have been seperated from the two of them and there never would have been a problem.
Matt knew something was wrong when she told him she needed to get her head on straight, that’s when he checked her voicemails and heard all these insane messages from Edge told her to be with him rather than Matt.
In the course of a few weeks, Matt lost his dream girl and his dream job.
Opie asked Matt what he wants to have happen, and Matt just doesn’t know.
Opie suggested if he has any sex tapes with Lita, now would be a good time to release it.
Matt said most of the guys in the WWE really just don’t talk to Edge anymore.
Matt loves the ‘We Want Matt’ and the ‘You Screwed Matt’ chants, and wants people to chant it every time they see Edge or Lita.
After Matt was fired, HHH said ‘no big deal’ since Matt ‘never drew any money.’ Matt said he heard about the comment and ‘whatever.’ Matt knows he revitalized the tag team world and sold a ton of merchandise over the years and anyone who’s watched wrestling knows that.
Matt doesn’t think there’s any question the show revolves around HHH.
