The man behind such nasty competition, back-stabbing shows such as “Survivor” and “The Apprentice” plans to venture into the the reality subgenre du jour –the do-good, feel-good show.

Mark Burnett said he’s developing an unscripted show. It is tentatively titled “Giving Hope,” and will seek out people in dire straits. The plan being to help them get back on their feet. The show is loosely inspired by the old CBS series “Touched by an Angel.” Burnett said the show’s stars, Roma Downey (Burnett’s girlfriend) and Della Reese may be involved in some way.

“We might profile people under a mountain of medical bills and finding ways to get them out from under it,” Burnett tells The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s what we’ll be looking at — providing hope and changing lives.”

“Giving Hope” doesn’t have a network home yet. Burnett says he plans to pitch the concept to potential buyers in the coming weeks.
