“Chris Candido severely injured his ankle early in his tag team bout with Lance Hoyt against Sonny Siaki and Apolo. Candido received medical attention backstage and was later taken to a local hospital via ambulance. Early indications are that he has a broken ankle, although TNAwrestling has yet to receive official word. We’ll have an update on Candido’s condition on Monday afternoon.

UPDATE ON CANDIDO: On Monday morning, Shane Douglas spoke to Chris Candido, who was still at a local Orlando hospital. Candido is scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday afternoon to insert a steel plate and screws into his ankle, which was completely dislocated. Candido also suffered a total fracture of his tibia and fibula bones. Everyone at TNA Wrestling wishes Candido a quick recovery, and hopefully we’ll have some comments from Chris once he returns home. According to Douglas, doctors told Candido he will be out of action for approximately 6 weeks.”

Tammy Sytch reported that Chris Candido went into surgery at 6 PM on Monday to repair his broken ankle. The surgery was expected to last 5 hours; Candido was expected to come out of it at around 11 PM.
