The finale of “The Amazing Race 7” got the show’s best ratings ever Tuesday night, but FOX and “American Idol” still won the night.
FOX averaged a 12.8 rating/20 share in primetime, beating CBS, 9.3/15. NBC well behind in third at 5.8/9, and ABC was fourth at 4.5/7. The WB’s 2.9/5 was enough for fifth, beating UPN’s 1.8/3.
The “American Idol” scored a 14.2/23, the night’s top performance, at 8 p.m. “NCIS,” 8.6/14, finished second for CBS. “My Wife and Kids” and “George Lopez” managed a 3.7/6 for ABC, tying for third with NBC’s “Most Outrageous TV Moments.” “Gilmore Girls” scored a healthy 3.3/5 for The WB, topping UPN’s “All of Us” and “Eve.”
“House,” 11.4/17, maintained FOX’s lead at 9 p.m. CBS got a big 9.1/14 for the first half of “The Amazing Race” finale. Two episodes of “According to Jim,” 5.2/8, gave ABC third over “Scrubs” and “Will & Grace” on NBC. The WB kept fifth “One Tree Hill,” while “Veronica Mars” finished the season on UPN with a 2.0/3.
At 10 p.m., the final hour of “The Amazing Race” scored a 10.1/16, topping NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU,” 9.8/16. ABC’s “Blind Justice” trailed badly with a 4.6/7.
