Eddie Murphy has signed on to a new comedy from the makers of Dodgeball, titled Norbit.
Based on a script by Eddie and Charles Murphy, the movie will see Murphy play multiple characters, but primarily Norbit, a meek guy forced into marrying a monster of a woman (also played by Murphy). When he does end up meeting the woman of his dreams, Norbit has to figure out a way to be with her instead.
The film was recently rewritten by Jay Scherick and David Ronn (Guess Who).

John Carpenter (Escape from New York, The Thing) is set to return with a new film called The Apostle. The movie will be a thriller about a Pittsburgh detective and a stockbroker, as they try to solve the mystery behind a string of gruesome murders.
The film marks Carpenter’s first film since 2001’s Ghosts of Mars.
Apparently, Carpenter discovered the script for the film, written by Paul Margolis, when it was submitted for consideration as a ‘John Carpenter Presents’ episode.
