Warren Beatty Wants Dick Tracy Sequel

Archive

Warren Beatty is currently caught up in a lawsuit over the rights to the Dick Tracy franchise.

Beatty is suing the Tribune Co. for $30 million in damages, claiming that he rightfully purchased the franchise rights in 1985. The company then tried to reclaim the rights, according to Beatty, in 2002 in violation of various notification procedures.

The Tribune Co. is currently setting up a new TV franchise with Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Outlaw Productions partners Bobby Newmyer and Scott Strauss. The series would take the cop character and move him to a modern day setting.

Beatty, however, is very interested in doing a sequel to the 1990 film.
