What can one say about UPN? Well it’s kinda a network. Would people really miss UPN if it were gone? Probably not. UPN announced its fall schedule and you would probably hear a pin drop.
Monday’s on UPN are chalk full of returning comedies. One on One starts things off 8 p.m. All of Us at 8:30 p.m. is the only change from last year. The 9 p.m. slot is filled once again by Girlfriends and is followed half an hour later by Half and Half.
At 8 p.m. Tuesday’s viewers get an encore presentation of America’s Next Top Model. Wow…reruns in primetime, that’s a great way to improve your programming development. Sex, Lies & Secrets is the only new drama for UPN next season, it gets the 9 p.m. slot. The show follows a bunch of twenty-somethings who live just outside of Hollywood. Denise Richards (Wild Things) stars in what sounds like a Melrose Place rip-off. At least its been a while since Melrose. Maybe this show can do to Melrose what The O.C. did for Beverly Hills 90210, make viewers realize the original was better.
Wednesday may be UPN’s best night with the popular America’s Next Top Model at 8 p.m. and the critically acclaimed Veronica Mars at 9 p.m.
UPN mixes things up on Thursdays by going with 2 hours of comedies. New comedy Everybody Hates Chris start things off at 8 p.m. The show is based on the childhood of Chris Rock, who narrates the show. Eve returns for another season in the 8:30 p.m. slot. Shannon Elizabeth’s show Cuts enters its second season at 9 p.m. Love, Inc. follows the life of young woman who runs a dating-consulting business. Shannon Doherty (Charmed, 90210) stars in the sitcom.
Fridays on UPN is WWE Smackdown night.
UPN also announced that it has picked up a Jennifer Lopez produced drama, South Beach. It will premiere sometime in the mid-season.
