'Housewives' Cleans Up For ABC

“Desperate Housewives” scored its best ratings of the season, leading ABC to a big ratings win Sunday night.

ABC averaged a 12.3 rating/20 share for the night, well ahead of second-place CBS, 7.7/13. FOX took third at 5.3/9, while NBC limped to a 4.3/7. The WB trailed behind with a 1.7/3.

CBS started the night leading with “60 Minutes,” 6.6/13, at 7 p.m. It beat out ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” 6.2/12. “Dateline” finished third for NBC, while FOX went with the movie “Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones,” 3.9/7. The WB turned to a “Charmed” repeat.

ABC assumed the lead at 8 p.m. with the second hour of “Home Edition,” 10.3/17. “Cold Case” aired its season finale to a 9.3/16, while “Episode II” moved up to third. “The Contender” scored a poor 3.7/6 for NBC, topping the season finale of “Charmed,” 2.2/4, on The WB.

At 9 p.m., “Desperate Housewives” posted a massive 18.5/28. CBS remained in second with a “CSI” rerun, 7.5/11, while FOX’s movie finished third at 6.4/10. NBC’s “Crossing Jordan” rerun took fourth, ahead of “Steve Harvey’s Big Time” on The WB.

ABC’s consolidated its win at 10 p.m. with the season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy,” 14.1/23. CBS managed a 7.3/12 from a “CSI: Miami” repeat, while a rerun of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” scored a 5.3/9 for NBC.
