With Daredevil being one of my favorite books for some time, I can’t help but feel a bit let down by this current story arc. Decalogue is a story that pretty much fills in the blanks when the Bendis and Maleev’s story jumped forward a full year. And while I believe this is an important time for the character, I am a bit bored by it.

The story that has been building since the start of their run is the best this comic has ever been, and since issue #26, it’s built up an incredible amount of momentum, and I’ve loved it, every step of the way. However, this Decalogue seems to halt that momentum. It’s giving story a bit of breathing room, but personally, I was looking forward to seeing the story keep going.

That said, the comic itself, outside of that context, is very good.

The production values on Daredevil, as always, are top notch. We are given a compelling story, with beautiful art, both of which compliment each other.

In Decalogue we are introduced to a support group, for people who have been affected by Daredevil. And they all have interesting stories, and we get to know them all very well. Daredevil makes appearances only in flashbacks (which is part of an even larger flashback to boot).

Anyways, we get a look at a potentially new villain, and I’m waiting for something big to happen. But while this is very interesting and well done, I wonder why it is part of the main Daredevil book. The story that is being told here seems like it would be more at home in a self contained mini.

Of course I could be wrong, and this could be the most important part of this massive Daredevil story. Bendis and Maleev have earned my respect and of course I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
