WAR IS HELL

May 24, 2005, Atlanta, GA – Shortly after the 60 year anniversary of the allied forces’ victory in Europe, Desperado Publishing, through Image Comics, releases Common Foe #1, the first issue of a five issue full color horror mini-series set during the Battle of the Bulge. Scheduled for release on May 25, Common Foe #1 is written by Keith Giffen and Shannon Denton with art by Jean-Jacques Dzialowski and features cover art by Esad Ribic.

Set in 1944, during World War Two, amid the disruptive chaos of the Battle of the Bulge, a besieged squad of American GIs and a platoon of German infantry sit in stalemate deep in the European countryside, each doing everything in their power to wipe the other out. But as darkness falls and both sides dig in for the night, neither suspect how few will live to see the dawn. The combined units have become the prey for an ancient evil and these two groups find they must unite if they are to survive the night and survive against the common foe.

“Common Foe is not your typical horror comic series or war comic series,” said Desperado publisher Joe Pruett. “Keith Giffen and Shannon Denton have done a masterful job of combining the two and creating a concept that is so fresh and original, we’ve already received interest from Hollywood before the series’ release. This is probably our most anticipated series and for good reason. The art is great and the story is fresh and different. If I wasn’t on this side of the desk, this would be the type of series I’d want to read.”
